High-prescription lenses present a genuine engineering challenge. As minus power increases, lenses grow thicker at the edges — creating discomfort, reducing oxygen supply at the periphery, and making centration harder. The Biofinity® XR addresses these challenges through refined lens geometry that manages edge and centre thickness distribution at extreme powers, keeping the Dk/t at a clinically excellent 160 across the entire range.
The 14.0 mm diameter is intentionally slightly smaller than the 14.2 mm standard Biofinity® — this design choice helps maintain lens stability and centration as prescriptions increase, where edge mass distribution can otherwise cause the lens to shift during wear.
