Smart Silicone™ is CooperVision's proprietary silicone hydrogel chemistry used in Stenfilcon A. Unlike conventional silicone hydrogels that require plasma surface treatments to become wettable, Smart Silicone uses longer silicone chain molecules for more efficient oxygen transfer, and permanently bonds hydrophilic groups within the silicone molecule itself. This makes the lens surface naturally wettable without any coating that can wear away during the wearing day.
